Ms. CCB Pageant 2005 Motivational Session

CCB’s 2005 Teen Pageant Contestants Participates In
Motivational Session

Four of the five contestants of this year’s Miss CCB Talented Teen Pageant participated in a motivational session over the weekend at the Anguilla Tourist Board Conference Room.

Facilitator for the session was Teacher Art Egel. The session commenced with Teacher Art sharing with the contestants some of his life experiences from childhood through to adulthood. He spoke of how the decisions he made at that time, have affected his life now, as an adult, and emphasized his strong belief in being an honest man, despite the consequences.

Teacher Art’s method of communicating was very effective and enabled the contestants to open up and feel comfortable relating to him. The discussion was candid as there were no limits in terms of the matters discussed. The session became an open forum for the contestants to share their experiences and their plans for the future.

Teacher Art encouraged them to be the best that they could be, not only for the night of the Pageant, but also for their lifetime. One very important topic discussed, ‘was always having someone older to communicate with before making important decisions.’ He urged them to strive to reach their goals and not to succumb to peer pressure from friends and schoolmates.
The session included preparation of the contestants for the question and answer segment of the Pageant.

They took turns leaving the room while the group decided among themselves an appropriate question based on the contestant’s earlier observations. The contestant then re-entered the room poised and ready to answer. Later, the contestants as a group commented on the positives as well as negatives with regard the several answers, and on ways in which the contestants could improve themselves for the night of the Pageant. The session was certainly a fun and exciting way of preparing the contestants for that important segment of the Pageant.

In concluding the motivational session, Teacher Art reminded them to put out their best on the night of August 2nd. He also reminded them that the most important aspect of the 2005 Miss CCB Talented Teen Pageant should be the fun and friendships that are being cultivated.
The contestants thanked Teacher Art for the wonderful and fun-filled experience.
