Blast From The Past: Anguilla Talented Teen Committee Joins In CCB's 25th Anniversary Celebrations

The Caribbean Commercial Bank (CCB) has been providing banking services to Anguilla for 25 years and has been sponsoring the Talented Teen Competition during the Summer Festival for the last 6 years. Consequently, when the Anguilla Talented Teen Committee (ATTC) were trying to find ways to show their gratitude for the years of commitment to youth development and the 25 years of service to Anguilla that CCB has provided, it decided that the CCB Blast From The Past show would be the best way to do so.

The show slated for November 24th November 2001 will features past winners and/or runners-ups during the period 1995-2000. This period is symbolic as 1995 represents the initial year when CCB began to sponsor the Talented Teen Competition in its entirety. The show will have three segments: introduction, talent and eveningwear. Recalling the talents that brought them the fame and prestige that came with winning and/or placing in one of the years, the young ladies will highlight their strides made since their involvement in their respective shows, their performed talent the night of their competition and also a gown – not a replica of the one worn the night of the show that they took part.

In addition to this walk down memory lane, the ATTC & CCB show will feature the rising Caribbean reggae artiste, Masud Sadiki out of St. Kitts. Masud will be performing at the conclusion of the show for approximately 2 hours. Sadiki has been making a name for himself recently with stellar performances at Carifesta VII, St. Kitts Music Festival and the St. Croix Reggae Festival. He also toured extensively in Europe and the Caribbean region. As a sign of his rising success, Masud Sadiki released his first album earlier this year entitled “Blast Off” that features such hits “I Try” and “Love For Mama” and “Bout War” that are all currently featured on local and regional charts and are enjoying frequent radio play.

Chairman of the ATTC, Karl Woodley when asked about the show said, “…this is truly an opportunity for the Anguillian community to witness both local and regional talents of varying styles. In keeping with our objective of youth development and cultural preservation, I believe that the show is truly a indication of our commitment to Anguilla, the region and also our gratitude to CCB for the 6 years of unswerving loyalty to the development of youth and culture on our island.”

The MCs for the show are “Shamash” out of Anguilla and radio personality “Sugar Bowl” out of Sugar City, St. Kitts. Tickets for this show are US adults and US children (12 and under) and may be obtained from any member of the Committee or Gems Exclusive. Woodley, in his final comments to news reporters invited the general public to the show. He reminded, “everybody knows that ATTC & CBB has put on quality shows in the past and there should be no expectations of anything less this time. The price is set so that everybody can come and get two shows for the price of one – a deal that you can’t beat.”

Finally, the ATTC wishes to inform its supporters that proceeds from this show will be going towards defraying the costs involved in the 2001 Ms. CCB Talented Teen Winner participating in the 2002 Hal Jackson International Talented Teen Pageant in New York City in July next year. So, please support them as they try to put Anguilla on the international talent map.
