The Caribbean Commercial Bank is one of the five-star sponsors of the National Sports Awards to be presented to a number of deserving persons on February 24 at LA Café. The Bank has contributed US$2,000 in sponsorship funds.
At a meeting with sport officials and the media on Tuesday, February 14, the names of a number of persons selected for Sportswoman/Sportsman of the Year were announced by Credit Manager with the Caribbean Commercial Bank, Tina Bannister.
The sports persons to be awarded, along with others, are Sherwin Richardson – volleyball; Ronnie Bryan – cycling; Vynicee Brooks – softball as well as pony baseball; Calli Rogers – windball; Gina Richardson – taekwon-do; Dujean Saunders – domino; Ambrose Fleming and Vallan Hodge – tennis; Jason Jackman – body-building; Javille (Special) Brooks – basketball; Jaynelle Lake – football; Omari Banks – cricket; and Shara Proctor – athletics.
CCB’s Managing Director, Preston Bryan, said he was proud that the Bank was continuing to sponsor the prestigious sporting event. He stated that the persons to be awarded deserved recognition and was delighted that the selection committee had found it necessary to honour them. He offered the awardees his personal congratulations and those of CCB.

Sports Director, Atkins Rogers, said the honorees had performed creditably in their various sporting disciplines throughout last year. “It is always an honour for the National Sports Awards Committee to recognise outstanding sport personalities on the island and to give them the incentive to continue to strive for excellence in the years to come. Mr. Rogers paid tribute to the CCB’s Assistant Manager for Marketing and Research, Trevor Woodley, for his initiative and quick response in releasing the needed sponsorship funds.

Cricket Development Officer, Cardigan Connor, said: “The association members are the ones that most people see, but there is a lot of team support in the background; and certainly, CCB, Preston Bryan and Trevor Woodley have been there not to criticise, but to be on the inside to make things better for all involved in sport.”

The five-star sponsors of the National Sports Awards are CCB, Social Security, National Bank of Anguilla, Cable and Wireless, Government of Anguilla, American Airlines/American Eagle, Cap Juluca, Covecastles, Weblinks and FayreField Foods.
